Course description
This distance learning modular
course offers the newcomer to embroidery an introduction to ways of working
with the exciting, but often bewildering world of materials, methods and
creative ideas associated with this art form.
You will be introduced to the
new and exciting language of today’s embroidery, which offers a wealth of
opportunities to develop personal creativity.
The six-module programme is
designed to lead you through a series of structured assignments focussed on
materials and textures, mark and pattern, colour and design, and enabling
anyone with little or no knowledge of hand stitch to begin to work on their own
imaginative ideas.
Assignments will include help
in developing your own creative ideas, easy to follow instructions for sampling
practical methods, notes on suitable materials and threads, help in personal
research and design.
It is recommended that each
module will involve you in approximately 12 weeks of practical work and study.
This is then returned to one of the Opus personal tutors who will give feedback
on your work in the form of a written tutorial. You should expect your work to
be returned to you within four weeks of the tutor receiving it.
